Origin of the invention
Engineers are simply “children of play”. This also applies to Maan Ridwan and Alexander Beirith. The two passionate inventors wanted to develop a game that was so captivating that it would delight adults as much as children – fast, dynamic, technically exciting and, above all, innovative.
The result is “Monstershot” – an electric game machine that combines elements of air field hockey, pinball and the arcade game Pong in a novel way:
Instead of being controlled by hand, the game is played using controllers: each player controls a goal element that can be moved sideways to send the floating puck into the opponent’s goal or to defend their own. The movement takes place via motorized actuators. Operation is via motorized actuators.
Automatic bumpers on the long sides provide additional action: If a bumper is hit by the puck, it bounces back automatically – creating surprising moves and unpredictable dynamics. A special feature of the game is the so-called “monster shot” – a rechargeable special strike that is three times more powerful than a normal strike.
The idea was born – but now it had to be technically implemented.
The first prototypes were built in the company’s own workshop, with lots of 3D printing, home-made electronics and countless tests. The two inventors founded Violetix GbR in Hanover in 2024 in order to develop and later market the product professionally.
On April 5, 2024, a patent application for the invention was filed with the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) under the official file number 10 2024 109 538.5. Publication is expected at the beginning of October 2025.
OfficialExamination procedure
In the first examination decision of the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), six documents from the patent literature and one product publication were regarded as prior art, but the novelty of the combination of features in claim 1 of the patent application was nevertheless conceded by the office.
Only a lack of inventive step was objected to.
In response to the first examination decision, the inventive step of claim 1 of the patent application was argued and the description was merely formally adapted. An official response remains to be seen (as of July 2025).
Within the 12-month priority period, an international patent application PCT/EP2025/058113 was filed as a subsequent application, which is also expected to be published in October 2025.
Today, the “Monstershot” is more than just an invention – it is a new type of event and competition device that causes a stir at weddings, corporate events, bars and trade fairs.
