Origin of the invention
Mr. Mario Krause, Hanover, spends time in the garden. There he noticed that wheelbarrows stand around unused and take up a lot of space. Every garden owner actually has at least one wheelbarrow. Yes, you can sit in a wheelbarrow, but it’s not really comfortable.
Mr. Mario Krause is an interior decorator by trade. This combination of a recognized problem and professional expertise led to the idea of making better use of a wheelbarrow when it is not needed for gardening.
This led to the idea of using a wheelbarrow as a lounger. In the summer of 2015, a prototype of the “chill lounger” was created with handwritten illustrations in different variations of the invention:
Based on these documents and a search for corresponding prior art, a patent application was drafted.
OfficialExamination procedure
The documents were filed with the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) on September 4, 2015 as German patent application 10 2015 011 740.8.
The “chill lounger” product based on the invention was exhibited at the EZN Erfinderzentraum Norddeutschland GmbH stand at the Hanover Industrial Trade Fair 2016. The “chill lounger” was a real eye-catcher, which over 1,000 interested visitors tried out over the course of the week.
The DPMA’s first examination decision of April 6, 2016, identified three additional documents from the patent literature as prior art. However, the office recognized the distinguishing feature of claim 1 of the patent application compared to each of the three other documents. As a result, only formal adjustments were required to reply to the first office action and to grant the German patent DE 10 2015 011 740 B4, which was decided by the office on July 31, 2018. The patent was then published on November 15, 2018. No opposition was filed against the grant of the patent.
